Austin Fashion Week begins today and runs through August 18th at various downtown locations. The annual event showcases local designers, retailers and salons. Showcase events will be held in the 2ND Street District, Barton Creek Square, Hill Country Galleria, and in the Domain. A range of trunk shows, runway shows, parties and music concerts will also take place at different Austin restaurants, shops, hotels, bars and event spaces.
The week culminates in the Austin Fashion Awards August 18th at the Austin Music Hall which will feature a runway show, a live music concert and an awards ceremony. For the third year, competitive mash up teams – comprised of a model, an apparel designer, a makeup artist, a hair stylist and a photographer – will create one look for the public to vote for their favorites. The winning team will be announced at the awards show.
