Summer Fun | 2012 Austin Ice Cream Festival

The Austonian, Downtown Luxury Condos

Each summer, hundreds of kids, parents and family members in the greater Austin area flock to this festival to cool off and to satisfy their sweet tooth. The 6th-annual Austin Ice Cream Festival will be held this Saturday, August 4th at Fiesta Gardens, just east of I-35 on the northern shores of Lady Bird Lake. The day will be filled with games, inflatable bounce houses and obstacle courses, performances, music and unlimited ice cream for all attendees.

Festival goers can also participate in numerous ice cream-related contests. The Popsicle Stick Sculpture Contest invites everyone to test out their creativity with traditional popsicle sticks. The Homemade Ice Cream Making Contest is open to contestants who want to pit their own recipe against others and churn ice cream at the festival. Attendees can also enter The Ice Cream Eating Contest. Information about the contests, including rules and entry details, can be found here.

The festival also benefits local charities including the Austin Children’s Shelter, Big Brothers Big Sisters and Habibi’s Hutch. Fiesta Gardens is a 7-minute drive east from The Austonian and often hosts popular city events including the Pachanga Latin Music Festival.
