The 22nd Annual Austin Chronicle Hot Sauce Festival will be held this Sunday, August 26th at Fiesta Gardens on the northern shore of Lady Bird Lake. The day’s itinerary consists of live music performances, hot sauce tastings, raffle drawings, cooking demonstrations and hot sauce competitions. Local food vendors will include Buenos Aires Café, Curra’s Grill and Torchy’s Tacos.
Presented in partnership with the Capital Area Food Bank (CAFB), the annual event is a signature fundraiser for the local nonprofit. The festival is free to the public with a donation of $3 or three healthy, nonperishable food goods. Last year, the event raised over $17,000 for CAFB; this value is equivalent to almost 19,000 pounds of food for hungry Central Texans. CAFB will also be selling raffle packages full of large-ticket items including Jet Blue Airways airfare, ACL Music Festival passes and gift certificates to local eateries.
Festival attendees are encouraged to take advantage of the complimentary shuttle service that picks up at Saltillo Plaza at 4th and Waller. Parking west of the venue is also encouraged, in order to respect surrounding neighborhoods.
