Jennifer Greer-Hartman and Lindsay Maki of Greer Interiors have worked on the design of public spaces, model homes and select private residences at The Austonian downtown luxury condominiums since the building’s inception. Now, they’re embarking upon a new phase of work, as they develop and execute new floor plans and custom interior design palettes for three floors of the building. For this new phase of development, the two design mavens have drawn from years of high rise interior design experience – gained in Chicago, Washington D.C., San Francisco and New York City – to create completely custom residences for The Austonian and the Austin luxury marketplace.

Prior to the formation of Greer Interiors, Jennifer and Lindsay worked together for more than a decade at Searl & Associates and Gary Lee Partners. At Chicago-based Gary Lee Partners, Jennifer and Lindsay directed space planning and interior design for The Austonian, and they’ve continued their work on the building at Greer Interiors, where they finalized the interior design plans and led the appointment of all public spaces.

Because of their long-standing professional history together, Jennifer and Lindsay complement each other well, and are able to collaborate and come together on a variety of projects across long distances. “Jennifer and I have a tremendous amount of respect for each other’s work ethic and design aesthetic,” Maki said.

“When we embarked on Greer together, it was a massive leap of faith, but we trust and actually like each other, so it works. We’ve got a good dialogue with each other and our designers. And it’s also very fun. We laugh a lot.”

In 2010, Jennifer and Lindsay officially opened Greer, and moved their operations from Chicago to Austin to better serve The Austonian. Since then, Jennifer and Lindsay have further developed their luxury clientele in Austin and elsewhere in the country. “Our work on The Austonian has provided us with the opportunity to work and expand our company in a new market,” Maki said. “The Austonian was our first client as Greer Interiors, and the project gave us the opportunity to do what we love and to build a business of our own. That’s incredible.”

Currently, Greer is working on developing and executing a limited number of custom units in The Austonian –twelve to be exact. They have selected a number of high-end, luxury materials, products and finishes for these custom units, which offer residents the ability to live in Austin’s urban core, without sacrificing customization or living in a home that speaks to one’s particular needs, personality and design style. “Our goal is to offer a range of options for homeowners to select, based on their personal aesthetic and style preferences,” Maki said. “So, we’ve created a range of custom palettes that speak to the different types of people we’ve seen interested in this kind of urban, luxury product. We’ve got a more traditional style, a more soft modern style, an urban, contemporary artisan palette that, I feel, is the most legitimately Austin, and a bold and dramatic aesthetic that incorporates more memorable and unique materials and finishes.”

Each of these palettes speak to the particular “types” of people Lindsay and Jennifer have encountered while working and designing in Austin. These palettes extend far beyond the finishes, serving as complete packages that incorporate architectural details, coloration as well as materials and product selection.

This comprehensive design approach speaks to the strengths of Jennifer and Lindsay, who incorporate both interior design and architecture into each and every design they create.
