This week, downtown Austin’s newest restaurant and craft cocktail bar officially opened its doors to the public in the Warehouse District at the corner of 4th and Lavaca. Taking its name from the first cocktail bar in Havana, Cuba, the Pleasant Storage Room brings the elegant and eclectic energy of early to mid-20th century Cuba to the heart of downtown Austin, with rum-inspired cocktails and Caribbean-inspired street food. Specialties of the Pleasant Storage Room include over-proof punches, rum-inspired cocktails and comforting and accessible food that represents the cultural milieu of the Caribbean such as jerk chicken and ceviche.
The space itself features exposed brick, marble counter tops and brass fixtures juxtaposed against graffiti and old world tile to represent the culture and the ambiance of old school Cuba. The restaurant is open Tuesdays through Sundays staring at 5 p.m., with happy hour running from 5-7. For residents of The Austonian downtown luxury condominiums, The Pleasant Storage Room is a mere five minute walk from the building.
